How To Get A Passport Overnight

People commonly run into problems with their documentation when they plan to travel outside of the country. It’s also common for individuals to struggle with last minute plans, which can often make things more difficult. In situations like this, individuals find themselves wanting to know more about their options for overnight passport delivery.

Documentation

Nowadays, you can process your documentation through the mail or in person. However, a lot will also depend on whether or not you meet the necessary qualifications to send your application through the mail. For instance, those who are under 16 will need to go to an agency facility directly. Things might also depend on how much you’re able to afford as well as the amount of time that you have to work with.

Options

Necessary Documents

If you need or prefer to process your paperwork in person, you’ll need to fill out a special form and sign it while you’re with the agent. This is in comparison to mail-in forms, which can be signed off-site. You will also need to have your photos in order, a photo ID and a birth certificate or proof of citizenship.

There are times when individuals need their book sooner, especially when it comes to last-minute plans. Need Passport Renewals

For the most part, you can get passport renewals without much effort and frequently, you can do it all by mail. There are some conditions that apply but usually there is no personal appearance required.

Conditions

For you to be able to submit your application completely by mail, there are some rules that apply. First, you must be able to present undamaged, original documents when you send the application. Your original passport must have been issued no longer than fifteen years ago and you must have been more than sixteen years old when it was originally issued. You can still do it by mail if you have a legal name change but you must have original or certified documents proving the change.

Form DS-82

If you are looking to renew and you qualify for the mail method, you can get the new document. Even if this will be your first passport, you can still get it by mail. Of course, if you don’t qualify, you will have to go in person to a passport agency office.

Expedited Service

You can receive help if you need an expedited copy within a couple of weeks. If you are travelling very soon, you may need this expedited copy, even with the extra fee that is involved. Also, if you need a foreign visa in four weeks, you will have to pay the extra fee. You should be sure to write the word “expedite” across the front of you envelope. You will also have extra overnight charges for both sending and receiving.

Appearance Required

If you need your visa in less than four weeks or are leaving on your trip in less that fourteen days, you will have to make a personal application and pay a higher charge to get it. You should be sure to have all documentation at the beginning for this service and must go to a passport office to apply.

Name Change

When you have an official name change, you must officially change it on the document. Get a copy of the court order or marriage certificate, depending on why your name changed. Send these, along with the original copy of your passport. You will need either the original of these documents or a certified copy. Send with the appropriate form and a color picture. You will not be charged for this service.

Errors

Errors that appear can be corrected whenever needed, using the appropriate forms. They do not have any charges associated with them. Things like typographical errors and errors with the date of birth are some examples. You simply need to include the proper form to get them corrected.

Mailing

You may have many occasions to make corrections or additions to your documents. This entails sending originals or certified documents, all in undamaged condition. To make sure of this, don’t fold them and enclose them in a large envelope to keep them flat and protected.
